“Thinking”

What if my thinking is flawed, an illusion based on many years of believing that what goes on in my head is in fact real or at least owned by me. What if I never really understood thinking or that my thinking wasn’t really mine, somehow created by someone else and make belief.

I started some time ago looking at the relationship between Thinking, Belief & Behaviours (three little words from my last LinkedIn blog) and while there is an amazing link between all three in terms of outcome, performance and achievement both individually and corporately (teams) I realised that I hadn’t really had the courage or know how until recently to tackle this myth head on.

How do you look at yourself in the mirror and “seek the truth of what”, how do you break the paradigms of thinking that have been such a cool bedfellow for so many years, after all its me, it’s my thoughts and therefore private and individualistic, part of being me?

I now spend a good deal of my time helping others in the corporate world realise that their thinking is at best paralogistical and will be systematically infiltrated to fit in with the corporate norm and this combined with the you part becomes part of the new thinking you.

Having spent time encouraging companies not to endorse the new boy/girl philosophy namely “don’t worry you will soon be thinking like us” to the latest recruit, I now realise that little is really done to desist from this practice which I believe reduces performance and creativity as a result.

Back to my own thinking and that of possibly the majority of us, I was complaining bitterly when climate change issues were yet again being watered down and targets weakened and, in some cases, stretched well into the future almost as though we might have a sustainable planet for our grandchildren based on the facts at hand.

I started ranting “why don’t they get it, what stops them doing something, why are we all sleepwalking towards the planets abyss” then I stopped. I paused to ask myself a question, what was “I” thinking? What was wrong with “my” thinking? And could this be systematic amongst millions of others just like me?

You see, “my” Para logistical thinking based on my experience, beliefs and brainwashing is/was that governments/learned bodies are there for, those more powerful than a mere  “me and I”. I re-thought, just imagine with a touch of belief and a change of behaviour in the “me” and “I” department, if all the “me and I” people around the world did what we know to be correct then we would devolve the power of flawed thinking and misguided power and leadership given to the “them and us” brigade and do what needs to be done today, now, not tomorrow. Maybe develop a new tax system wholly based on your and your companies carbon foot print. Now wouldn’t that be interesting if a zero-footprint equated to zero tax and likewise a large carbon footprint both personally and corporately equated to maybe a 99% loading. What! I hear, so let’s scurry back to the ridiculous carbon offset system. Who on this planet came up with that nonsense?

Well, it caused my rethinking of how to change the world now and all through the power of “me and I”! as there are millions of us who already Think, Believe and Behave (those lovely three little words) this way, so what’s stopping us connecting. Maybe we believe that we aren’t in the majority and the minority are cleverer and more powerful. Surely it couldn’t work? Really!

Think again change your world !

We all deserve change as long as it’s driven by the “me and I” brigade, you see they have always been the ones who can make change happen.
