20%-70% Improvement

Successful and well-established organisations must constantly review, renew, and reinvent themselves to maximise their USPs and success formulas.

The keys to organisational success are mainly threefold, notwithstanding its product or service, namely:

1. The ability to capture and maintain its entrepreneurial flair at an organisational level.

2. Its ability to create an environment and culture constantly inspires its people.

3. An ability to reinvent itself through its people.

To maximise its potential, the three points above need to be explored and upgraded as each can and does hide negatives, which can slow the organisation down, losing its commercial advantage.

Entrepreneurial talent

While being entrepreneurial is an excellent trait, especially in the early days, the question for the company and the HR team must be:

Q1: How does a mature business, which requires rules, systems, and processes, allow, cultivate and manage entrepreneurialism to its advantage?

Inspiring a company’s people, especially in a mature business, requires effort and creating something engaging.

Q2: What are the critical known factors that create ongoing inspiration for individuals and teams when pieced together?

Answering this question leads to the next point in the cycle, as to what and who needs to be reinvented, the question being:

Q3: Do we know, and even if we do, how do we create this as a process?

In a nutshell, the three questions above concerning the entrepreneur, the inspiration, and the reinvention can and should be matters for corporate and personal development.

Tick Boxes

Most maturing companies with an entrepreneurial mantra have led the move towards achieving the above through performance appraisals. While this is an appropriate way forward, they can often fall into the trap of making these lengthy, complex and a “tick box” processes.

It has been proven repeatedly that the pendulum can swing from the sublime to the ridiculous, increasing workloads but reducing the effectiveness that was the desire of such tools.

Key Formula

I believe that there are two important formulae which should focus the corporate attention, namely:

a. P = E² V² B².

b. P = p – i

These two formulae are the epitome of helping capture, maintain, and grow the entrepreneurial organisation wishing to inspire its people through constant reinvention.

The code for the letters P = E² V² B² are:

P = Performance

E = Environment

E = Emotional Intelligence

V = Vulnerability

V = Values

B = Belief

B = Behaviour

The code for the letters P = p – i are:

P = Performance

p = potential.

i = interference.

You will see from the above formulae that all the ingredients for achievement are encapsulated in these two formulae, with the interference stated in formula b, being a key to address poor performance and lack of inspiration.

Experience

Over the last 30 years, I have identified the critical issues mentioned previously and have designed a compelling user programme (the “NOW!” programme) that powerfully impacts all of these essential elements of a fun and inspirational one-day intervention.

This programme pragmatically demonstrates how to dramatically increase personal and team performance using the above formulae through Golf.

Key Points

Re-creating the entrepreneurial spirit in established companies.

A method of management development which can be used to support traditional appraisal and development programmes.

An ability to inspire staff to do things differently.

Achievement of more extraordinary performance both individually and in teams.

A corporate statement reinforces that employees are unique, and although the corporation is mature, their thinking, ideas and behaviours are still where it’s at.

This process achieves a performance improvement of circa 20-70% on measurable company outputs.
